𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐓𝐎 𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐃𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐀𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐄 💉 1️⃣ Begin shading from the inner lips and gradually work your way towards the outline. 2️⃣ When you reach about 3/4 of the way through the section, start shading at the outline. Use sparse strokes to blend the shading inward towards the shaded area. 3️⃣ This technique allows you to have control over your shading within the desired lip shape. It also helps create a smooth transition between the outline and the inner saturated lips. 4️⃣ The purpose is to create a barrier to prevent the pigment and needle from going beyond the outlined shape, while still evenly saturating the inner lips. 𝙆𝙀𝙀𝙋 𝙍𝙀𝘼𝘿𝙄𝙉𝙂 ⬇️ Every individual has a unique comfort zone where they excel. As instructors, our responsibility is to help students discover what works best for THEM. That’s why it is essential to teach new PMU artists how to develop their own personalized techniques, rather than enforcing a rigid “my way or the highway” approach. In this case with my student, she has a heavier hand and prefers whip-shading at a quicker pace. ⇨ Instead of forcing her to slow down, we experimented with different machines and speed levels until we found the perfect combination for HER. ⇨ This allowed her to tattoo at her natural pace and comfort zone, all while achieving optimal results.
